How to perform Mind Reading Crayon

Materials Needed:

• A set of different colored crayons

• A small container or box to hold the crayons

Performance Steps:

1. Introduction:

   • Introduce the crayons and explain that you will perform a mind reading demonstration.

2. Participant Interaction:

   • Invite an audience volunteer to choose any crayon from the set without showing it to you or the audience. Ask them to place it into your hand and ensure they close the box afterward.

3. Mind Reading Act:

   • Turn your back to the audience and pretend to concentrate. Keep the chosen crayon in your hand behind your back.

   • After a moment, confidently announce the color you believe the participant has chosen (e.g., "You must be thinking of pink.").

4. Reveal:

   • Turn around and show the chosen crayon to the audience, matching your announced color.

 

Secret Revealed:

1. Execution After Turnaround:

   • While facing away from the audience, keep the crayon in your hand behind your back.

   • Scrape a small amount of the crayon with your thumbnail.

   • Bring your hand back to the front while making a gesture or pretending to concentrate.

   • Subtly check the color of the crayon residue under your thumbnail without drawing attention to it.

2. Cleanup:

   • After the reveal, casually wipe away the crayon residue from your thumbnail to maintain the secret.
